Good start for MicroCyte

First few weeks for MicroCyte 1.0 have been very positive!

Well we're now a few weeks on after the launch of MicroCyte 1.0 and we've been very happy with the strong reception MicroCyte has enjoyed by both users and developers alike! As MicroCyte 1.0 beds in with developers we've been receiving feedback and planning the development path for both 1.1 and the 2.0 code branch.

Version 1.1 will use the same structure and code base as version 1.0 but will add requested features and bug fixes. Version 1.1 will be a free upgrade to everyone who has purchased version 1.0 so keep hold of your paypal transaction numbers because you'll need them to get hold of the update once its released. We expect version 1.1 to be released around the end of June 2008. Full instructions will be provided for upgrading a website built in version 1.0 to use version 1.1.

Version 2.0 is still in planning but it will be a fairly large improvement on the version 1.0 tree. The exact feature list is still yet to be decided but we expect the CMS structure to be far simpler and more compact making website development much easier. We'll look to be adding both plug-in and optional database support as well as better hooks for social networking sites and an improved comments system. We'll be posting more blogs about the ongoing development of 2.0 as well go over the next few months. We don't expect 2.0 to ready for release much before Q4 2008.

If you have a requests for features or bug fixes for either 1.1 or 2.0 then please feel free to leave them in the comments below!
